Discovering how the making and playing of the Native American Flute helps to re-establish self-esteem and self-worth among at-risk youth.

 

2:30pm-3:30pm, Friday:

Jeff Ball and Ron Warren “Composing  music for the Native American Flute”

 

Creating music for the Native American Flute and how to combine it with other instruments not normally connected with the Native American Flute.

 

9:00am-10:00am, Saturday:

Jan Seiden “Healing through the Native American Flute”

 

The use of the Native American Flute and the tones which they produce for the establishment of Wellness in the human body.

 

10:30am-11:30am, Saturday:

Joseph Firecrow “The Northern Cheyenne Flute”

 

          A journey in the historical and contemporary use of the

          flute among the Cheyenne Nation.

 

1:30pm-2:30pm, Saturday:

Bob Rychlik  "Introduction to the Fujara, an overtone flute”

 

An introduction to the Fijara, a Yugoslavian overtone flute, to show its unusual sound and how it came about in that culture.

Raymond Redfeather “The making of the Native American Flute”

 

A journey in the making of the Plains style Native

American Flute

 

4:30pm-5:30pm, Saturday:

David Landis, Diana Sunday "Playing the Native Flute with Other Musicians".

         

Insights and tips for playing flutes with other musicians – playing different musical styles, how to accompany singers, using different keyed flutes

 

There will also be a screening on the Movie “Songkeepers” during the lunch break and at the end of the workshops on Saturday.
